With the arrival of Earth Day today, I like to recall,

The Mother Earth offers myriad things and the gift-

As the mists of her primroses breathe in her breasts,

And the twilights loiter in summer-wind to get a lift!

Silences of heat and cold in the nature by turn enfold,

And I behold the flowers blooming, as if mists of gold!

On peaks of hills, warring winds with hail veil the height-

And planet Earth shakes through the shaky brooding night!

In summer, baked in the heat of consuming sun,

The lawns and lakes pray for downpour of rain-

And their long-drawn sigh chimes with horses’ neigh,

Mimicked by the majesty above, draped with a pain!

Mother Earth bejeweled by the glittering stars moans,

And invites the clouds to meet with angel-lips of air-

But I fall in the weariness of thoughts in the hymns,

And often fumble through the rhymes I like to share!

At times, the solo prancing of innumerable dew begins,

And ruffles the dark with rustling leaves strewn around-

While poems from my coffee mugs act as twirling avatars,

And retired quills softly create the mystic surround sound!

Whisper from the unknown dense infinitudes stays awake,

And the dusk, with her twin sister dawn, loves to anticipate-

The late home-coming summer will arrive soon on Earth,

And reunite with hugs and kisses at the Milestone’s gate!!
